Niqqi Faces Her Fears and Dresses Up as a Scarecrow for Halloween

November 4, 2011

A couple of weeks ago, I went for a walk with my mom when, suddenly, out of the corner of my eye I saw someone standing totally still in my neighbor’s yard.  Where did he come from? He wasn’t there before!  I cautiously approached him.  He had a plaid shirt and overalls and corn stalks coming from his pant legs, his sleeves and down from his funny hat.  I barked and ran around him, trying for him to move or say something…but nothing!  It just stood there, as if frozen in time.

On a walk with her mom, Niqqi meets a scarecrow.

To be honest with you, I was a little scared.  My mom explained to me it was a scarecrow…a person-like figure made from sticks and old clothes that  farmers often place in the fields to discourage birds from eating the seeds or the crops.  My neighbor was using it as a decoration for Halloween. The story didn’t convince me at all.   I sooo wanted the scarecrow to say something back to me.   How could he not? Still scared, I went back to get some response from him, but nothing happened.

So, I decided to face my fears, and see what it would be like to be a scarecrow myself.  My mom made me a scarecrow costume and when Halloween came, I put it on having decided I was going to stay super still and see if I could trick any of the kids coming to my door.  You might have guessed it, I didn’t work! I tried sooo hard, but the minute the trick-or-treaters came by, I forgot the whole thing and I went to greet them with my tail wagging!  I didn’t want them to be scared after all. It was so much fun!  I passed out candy and all the kids said I looked cute in the scarecrow costume and they laughed.

When Halloween was over, I went to my neighbor’s yard to leave a piece of candy for the scarecrow and to tell him I wasn’t scared of him any more. But when I got there, I saw a bag shaped as a pumpkin.  It had tag and it said, “To Niqqi.” What? Something for me? I could tell without sniffing it too much that there were dog treats inside!  Wow!  From the scarecrow?  I looked up and gave him a big smile and said, “Thanks!” And you know what?  I think I saw him smile back and  heard him whisper “Happy Halloween, Niqqi!”

Niqqi received a Halloween treat bag from the scarecrow.

Niqqi Skateboards

September 17, 2011

I’m learning to skateboard!  I saw my brother’s old skateboard in the garage and I wanted to give it a try.  It was a little bit scary at the beginning, but I got the hang of it!  I highly recommend it!

Mix Up In Heaven Delivers Bichon Instead of Human – The Niqqi Story

August 14, 2010

This is the story of how I found my family and my forever home…

This is the story of how Niqqi finds her forever familyl

There I was, sitting in God’s office, waiting to pick my parents out. You know the drill:  you go into God’s office, you are shown several candidates and you choose your parents to be.

It’s a very exciting event and I don’t know how God does it to accommodate all the newborns. It helps that in Heaven, time goes much faster than on Earth. What could be weeks on Earth, is barely a minute in Heaven…so let’s say that things happen fast, and that sometimes…I get distracted.

I was shown in and became immediately in awe with the decorating, especially the wallpaper.  It was beautiful angel wallpaper, radiant and subdued at the same time, and just gorgeous!

Suddenly,  I realize He’s asking me what I think of the first candidates, and that all I can think of is how to get the name of His interior designer…

Commander RoboDogg Arrives to Area 51 Twitter Anipal Adventure Pawty

April 13, 2010

Commander RoboDogg contacted @SmokeyPoodle and me to help in the rescue of @DoggaXT a.k.a Laika from Area51.

Her name was actually Laika. She was the first dog to orbit the Earth in 1957.  She was launched from Russia into space.  Her peril was expected and anticipated.

This is Laika, the first dog to orbit the Earth

But in our story, Laika’s future is not as certain as expected.  While in orbit, she is saved by an alien craft piloted by Commander @RobboDog.  They bond immediately and he vows to take her to his planet.  Unexpectedly, the vessel goes into a time warp and crashes into Earth.  The aliens manage to escape, but not Laika, who is taken into Area 51.

Eventually, Laika finds an old computer and discovers Twitter.  She signs in as @DoggaXT and starts sending “smoke signals” of the Twitter kind.  @SmokeyPoodle and I read her tweets and become concerned.  She spills the beans and shares the truth.  We are determined to help her out, but find it impossible.  Commander @RoboDogg contacts us as he is planning a new trip to Earth and his intention is to save Laika and take her back with him.  But he needs our help.  We try, but realize we need a village…and our village resides in Twitter.  So we summon anipals from all corners of the world to come to Laika’s rescue.  Commander @RoboDogg meets us on Earth.  Our mission begins:

The teams get together and go forth!
